Frame: handmade frame with decorative ornaments by Gregor frames
Provenance: from a collection of a former art dealer

Albert Verhoesen (1806-1881) was a pupil of J. van Ravenswaay and P.G. van Os. He was later taught by B.C. Koekkoek, with whom he also lived. Apart from landscapes with cattle and animal sheds, Verhoesen painted a considerable number of paintings with poultry, which he became especially known for.

In Amersfoort, Albert Verhoesen worked as a city draughtsman for almost 20 years; he was also an art dealer. Works by his hand in possession of Rijksmuseum Amsterdam and Centraal Museum Utrecht.
