Description

Heinrich Hermanns (1862 –1942), Bloemenmarkt in Amsterdam, Oil on canvas boot size: 82 x 110 cm, inner sizes: 59 x 82 cm Net as his contemporaries of the "Düsseldorfer Malerschule" Henrich Hermanns felt strongly attracted to impressionism. He traveled a lot through Europe, visited Katwijk several times and also painted cityscapes and flower markets of Amsterdam and Dordrecht on those occasions. His hometown also brought him colorful and lively motifs. After 1900 his colorite is pronounced and in his cityscapes he increasingly strives for the depiction of light and atmosphere.
