Alain Bonnefoit, "Nude", 1988. Screen print, 92 x 76 cm including frame, Collection Dumay. Composition featuring a naked lady in cowered position. Signed lower right. Alain Bonnefoit, was a talented figurative painter, engraver, and sculptor. Born May 8 1937 in Montmartre. In 1953, Bonnefoit entered the École des Arts Appliqués, and also studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. From 1959 to 1960, he studied Engraving and Sculpture at lEcole des Beaux Arts in Brussels. He spent the next several years working, traveling, and developing his artistic style. Between 1961 and 1963, he worked in the studio of sculptor Antoniucci Volti, who became his mentor. In 1964, he began creating what would become his signature figure: the female nude. In 1965, he moved to Tuscany, but kept on his studio in Paris. Alain Bonnefoit has had major exhibitions throughout the world, including France, Italy, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Japan, Tahiti, and the United States. His collection is at the following museums; Collection de l'État et de la Ville de Paris, Paris, France, Musée d’Art moderne, Tokyo, Japan, Fujiwara, Bizen, Japan, Musée d’Art Moderne de Kwan Ju, Korea, Palazzo Pretorio, Certaldo Alto, Italië.
