Description

Johan Meijer (1885-1970)
Dimensions work: 40 x 50 cm
Signature: Bottom left

Provenance:
- Kunsthandel Ninck Blok, Groningen Netherlands
- Originating from a Dutch private collection

Johan Meijer was born in Amsterdam and settled in the Gooi region in 1912, first in Laren and then in villa 'Le Paradou' in Blaricum. He frequently went out to paint nature, with a preference for landscapes with trees. His summer and winter landscapes have a great colouristic quality. He signed the summer scenes in red, the winters in blue. The painter received his training at the Amsterdam academy and then from impressionist A.M. Gorter. A study trip to Paris introduced him to neo-impressionism, which can be seen in many of his paintings.

Viewing is of course possible. We also have our own in-house frame shop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary year. Furthermore, we use restorers from the trade association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. The condition only relates to the work. The frame is included, but damage to the frame will not be compensated.
