Description

Anton Heyboer, King, own print, etching, 66 x 101 cm

Anton Heyboer (1924-2005) was a Dutch painter and graphic artist. Heyboer was self-taught. During World War II, Heyboer was put to work in Berlin where he narrowly escaped bombing. After the war, Heyboer returned to the Netherlands traumatized and confused. In Santpoort, Heyboer laid the foundation for his successful early work of the 1950s and 1960s. This work consisted of large sheets of sober graphics and gouaches with compositions of nudes and animals. In the 1960s and 1970s, Heyboer made a real breakthrough and his work was acquired by MoMA in New York and shown at the Documenta in Kassel. Recurring subjects in his oeuvre are animals, figures, nudes, abstraction and portraits.

Condition: the work is in good condition.
