Description

Charles Leickert (1816-1907)
Dimensions work: 25 x 20 cm
Signature: bottom right

Provenance: from a Dutch private collection

Charles Leickert (1816-1907) was for a short time a pupil of W.J.J. Nuijen and from 1839 of Andries Schelfhout. The latter was particularly influential in his work. He painted beautiful Dutch ice scenes, summer landscapes and river views, incorporating all kinds of motifs from his sketchbooks. After 1859, he additionally painted beach scenes and cityscapes. The appeal of his paintings is partly determined by the beautiful light and strong narrative details.

Viewing is of course possible. We also have our own in-house frame shop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary year. We also use restorers from the trade association 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of them, please let us know.
