Description
Jacob de Wit (1695–1754) was a Dutch painter and one of the main representatives of the Rococo style in the Netherlands. He was born in Amsterdam and was active during the first half of the 18th century, a period when the Baroque style transitioned into the more ornate and decorative Rococo. De Wit was primarily known for his paintings of allegorical and mythological scenes, often emphasizing the use of light and shadow to create dramatic effects.
