Review Dick Ket - Collected Works of Dick Ket: 12 Lithographs in Portfolio
Description
Dick Ket (1902–1940) was a Dutch painter, best known for his meticulously detailed still lifes and introspective self-portraits. Ket is often associated with the Magic Realism movement, which focused on depicting ordinary subjects with a heightened, almost mystical clarity. Born in Den Helder and later residing in Bennekom, Ket suffered from a congenital heart condition (likely Fallot’s tetralogy), which severely limited his mobility and led him to spend most of his life indoors. This condition had a profound impact on his art, as it restricted him to subjects within his immediate surroundings, such as everyday objects and his own image.
