Coenraad Alexander Weerts (1782-1868), summer village near a riverdam, oil on panel, 27 x 22 x 3 cm, an oil painting with an image of a panoramic landscape. Coenraad Alexander Weerts came from a well -off environment. His father was mayor of Deventer and his brother mayor of Arnhem. He himself was a lawyer and art collector and the painting was mainly hobby and relaxation for him. During his youth Weerts were taught by the portrait painter Jan Antonie Kaldenbach in Delftshaven and from the Stilleven painter Willem van Leen in Zutphen. He eventually specialized in romantic landscapes and river scenes. Until 1846 C.A. Weerts at the Mariënberg house in Arnhem, where he brought together a large collection of romantic paintings and drawings.
