Anton Martineau (1926-2017)
lived in Amsterdam and trained at the Royal Academy of Art (The Hague) and the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten (Amsterdam). An artist of international stature, Anton Martineau exhibited with Saura and Tapies at the Stadler gallery in Paris in 1967. Belonged with his friend Jan Sierhuis to a slightly younger batch than the painters of Cobra. His oeuvre consists of paintings, drawings and graphics in a strongly expressionist figurative style. Spontaneous drawing plays an important role in his work.
