Olav Vorsel (1922–2007) was a Dutch artist who only embraced his artistic path at age 47, driven by a deep inner necessity to express his worldview through visual art. His work, shaped by a turbulent youth and profound life questions, consists of expressive paintings with thick, textured layers, reflecting both social and psychological themes.
Vorsel began his career in the publishing world, serving as director of Van Ditmar publishing house. By the late 1960s, he gained the freedom to focus on introspective writing and painting. Over time, his paintings evolved from organic shapes to precise lines and geometric abstraction, a transformation he meticulously documented.
His work, intense in color and emotion, remains a testament to his unique artistic journey and vision.
