Review A.J. Groenewegen (1874 - 1963) - Cow
Description
Adrianus Johannes Groenewegen (1874–1963) was a Dutch painter, renowned for his landscapes in the style of the Hague School. He was a self-taught artist who focused on peaceful rural scenes, often featuring windmills, rivers, and livestock. Groenewegen skillfully captured natural light and atmospheric conditions, such as misty mornings and twilight. As one of the last representatives of the Hague School, he bridged the gap between traditional landscape painting and modern influences. His works continue to be admired for their simplicity and emotional resonance with the Dutch countryside.
