Description

Lau Heidendael, born in 1946, is a Dutch artist known for his watercolors and graphic work. He studied at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. In 1972, he won the prestigious Prix de Rome for graphic arts. His work includes meticulously crafted watercolors, often depicting cityscapes of Amsterdam, such as the courtyard on Plantage Lepellaan. Heidendael is a member of the artist group Locatie: Amsterdam, which has been exhibiting together since 2002, focusing on capturing the city. His artwork is part of collections, including the Rijksmuseum. Heidendael's contributions to Dutch art are highly valued for their technical precision and atmospheric portrayal of urban landscapes.
