Corneille, born Guillaume Cornelis van Beverloo, was a Dutch painter and one of the founding members of the CoBrA movement, an influential post-war avant-garde art group established in 1948. His work is characterized by bold colors, expressive lines, and abstract figures, often depicting birds, women, and imaginary landscapes. Inspired by African art, nature, and poetry, Corneille developed a unique, playful, and vibrant style.
Throughout his career, he exhibited worldwide, and his work is featured in major museums and private collections. His artistic legacy remains an important part of modern European art history.
