Description
acobus Frederik Sterre de Jong was part of the Larense School. He was born in Amsterdam in 1866 and received a solid artistic education, first at the Quellinus School and later at the Rijksacademie. In 1903, he settled in Blaricum, near Laren, where he focused on painting rustic interiors and rural scenes featuring mothers and children. He was also known for his landscapes, a few portraits, and still lifes. Sterre de Jong was a member of Arti et Amicitiae. His daughter, M.C.J. Sterre de Jong, gained recognition as a painter of flowers and landscapes.
