Freek van den Berg (1918–2000) was a Dutch painter, known for his expressive use of color and work within Fauvism. He was a member of the artists' group "De Onafhankelijken" and was inspired by great masters such as Matisse. Van den Berg primarily painted landscapes, still lifes, and figures, aiming to convey his love for life to the viewer. His work is characterized by a playful and energetic style. In addition to painting, he taught and wrote about art. He gained international recognition, and his works are still appreciated in the art world today.
