Jan Kruysen (1874-1938) was a Dutch painter known for his expressive and colorful works. Born in Liempde, the Netherlands, he was largely self-taught and developed a bold, individual style influenced by impressionism and expressionism. His subjects included portraits, religious themes, and Brabant village scenes, often painted with strong brushstrokes and vibrant colors. Kruysen's work was well received, and he exhibited in both the Netherlands and abroad. His son, Antoon Kruysen, also became a successful painter.
