Hendrik Valkenburg (1826-1896) was a Dutch painter and draughtsman, known for his cityscapes, landscapes, and portraits. Born in Haarlem, he was influenced by the Hague School and studied under Bartholomeus van Hove. Valkenburg was known for his precise depiction of reality, with particular attention to light and shadow. He captured everyday life and the beauty of urban and natural surroundings. His work is valued for its technical skill and his contribution to 19th-century Dutch art.
