Helen Nieuwendijk: A Dance between Figuration and Abstraction

Born in 1946, Helen Nieuwendijk has developed into an artist whose work is distinguished by a vibrant fusion of figuration and abstraction. With an academic background in sociology at the University of Amsterdam, Helen found her true passion in the visual arts. Her artistic journey began in 1985 at Ruudt Wackers' art academy, followed by a post-academic deepening at the van Gogh studio under the guidance of Peter Schenk.

Expressive and colourful, Nieuwendijk's paintings excel at inviting the viewer's imagination and fantasy. Her light touch and vibrant use of colour bring a unique dynamic to her work, blurring the boundaries between reality and fantasy. Helen draws inspiration from reality to shape her fantasy world, working with an intense and intuitive approach.

Nieuwendijk's oeuvre has not gone unnoticed. Her works are included in private collections in England, Switzerland, Belgium and America. Moreover, she has a strong presence in the corporate world with numerous commissions for portraits. Her participation in art projects and exhibitions underlines her versatility and commitment to the art world.

Helen Nieuwendijk's art is an ode to imagination, an invitation to the viewer to be drawn into a world where colour, form and emotion come together in a harmony
