Gerard Delfgaauw (1882-1947, shell fishermen on the beach, oil on canvas, 53 x 3 x 73 cm, an oil painting with a show of shell fishermen Gerard Delfgaauw grew up in the water -rich Westland. It is therefore not surprising that the polder landscape of his native region is an important topic within his oeuvre. He also painted village and cityscapes, winter scenes and performances of the port of Rotterdam. Delfgaauw mainly formed itself and worked in an impressionist-naturalistic style. Especially the way in which he has managed to 'catch' the sunlight and her reflections in the water on the canvas is greatly appreciated.
