Henk Schuring (1928–1984) was a Dutch abstract expressionist painter, born in Enschede. He began his career as a graphic designer at an advertising agency but eventually decided to fully dedicate himself to art. Schuring is considered one of the first abstract painters in Enschede. Although mostly self-taught, he won several awards, and his work was acquired by institutions such as the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
His oeuvre consists of abstract compositions, often executed in a thick, textured style characteristic of abstract expressionism. Schuring closely followed international developments in art and successfully integrated these influences into his own work. His paintings attracted the attention of both museums and art collectors.
In addition to painting, Schuring was also involved in sculpture, murals, and drawings. He was affiliated as a guest artist at the AKI (Academy of Art and Design) in Enschede and was active as an artist from 1943 to 1984.
