Description

Wallace Ting is a Chinese-American painter and poet.

In 1946 he left China and in 1952 he arrived in Paris. His period in Paris was very important, because here he came into contact with Karel Appel, Alechinsky and Asger Jorn and was strongly influenced by the Cobra group.

In 1957 he left for New York and his work was influenced by Pop Art and abstract expressionism. Here he initially worked abstractly but later figuratively with lots of color. Characteristic subjects are cats, birds, naked women and animals. Often depicted with lots of color.
In 1990 he moved to Amsterdam, but he still travels a lot between Amsterdam and New York.
Walasse Ting's work is in many museum, corporate and private collections, including the MoMa in New York, the Guggenheim, etc.
