The born Amsterdammer Frans Langeveld studied chemistry before fully dedicating himself to painting. He took lessons at the Rijksnormaalschool in the capital and was later a student of G.W. Dijsselhof. Initially, he painted landscapes, many Amsterdam cityscapes, and interiors. His work is solid, robust, and somewhat rough in texture. Struggling people, action, movement, and the epic in nature fascinated him. From 1903, he frequently visited Laren, where he settled and painted farm interiors with figures. In doing so, he was more of a realist than his artistic colleagues.
Viewing is, of course, possible. Additionally, we have our own in-house framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. We also work with restorers from the professional organization 'Restauratoren Nederland'. Should you wish to make use of this, we would be happy to hear from you."
