Widely recognized for his series of “Bow Tie” works featuring an intricately layered and folded object at the center of a canvas, Manolo Ballesteros’s lively paintings are filled with prominent lines and geometric shapes, often in soft, pastel shades or containing a monochromatic background. In his mixed-media works, the artist employs gentle brush strokes to break up the uniformity of hues and evoke an energetic and playful feeling. Throughout his career, Ballesteros has been celebrated for his engagement with abstraction and geometric forms. In 2015, he exhibited a solo exhibition at the Can Framis Museum in Barcelona. Void of any tacit messaging, the artist’s works highlight his ongoing exploration of materials including paper, enamel, and steel.
